Walk into an electronics store, grab an HDMI cable, and you'll see prices ranging from a few dollars to fifty or more. The packaging on the pricey ones promises richer color, sharper detail, and "premium" performance. It's a great marketing story. It's also mostly nonsense.
How HDMI actually works
HDMI carries a digital signal. That means the picture and sound are sent as data, not as an analog wave that can fade or pick up static. The signal either arrives intact or it doesn't. There's no in-between where a fancier cable squeezes out extra color.
So a cheap cable and an expensive cable carrying the same 4K signal will look identical on your screen. You are not missing out on hidden quality by going affordable.
When the cable does matter

Pick a cable rated for the resolution and refresh rate you need, from a brand that lists clear specs. That's it. You do not need gold-plated, oxygen-free, audiophile-grade anything.
